Why a coworking space runs hackathons
A building with fast internet and good chairs is a commodity. What is harder to replicate is a room where people who build things happen to be in the same place at the same time.
Events are how that happens deliberately rather than by accident. A developer who spends a Saturday on a hackathon team meets people they would never encounter through a job board. A founder demonstrating a prototype gets honest feedback from engineers who have solved the same problem. That is the point.
What actually happens
Hackathons
Intensive build sessions, usually across a weekend. Teams form on the spot, choose a challenge, and present working prototypes at the end. The constraint is deliberate: a hard deadline forces decisions that months of discussion never produce.
AI and automation workshops
Shorter, more structured sessions focused on applied work rather than theory — building with language models, automating real business processes, working with APIs and agents. Participants leave with something that runs, not slides.
Technical evenings
Talks and demonstrations from people working on interesting problems, followed by open discussion on the terrace. Lower commitment, high value for meeting people.
Robotics sessions
Hardware brings a different crowd and a different energy — students, engineers, hobbyists, and companies exploring automation.
Members get the room, and the community. Events run in the same training and conference spaces available to members during the week. If you work at HIVE FIVE, the community is already in the building.

Hosting your own event
The spaces used for community events are available to book. Companies, schools and organisations run training sessions, workshops, product launches, technical meetups and corporate events at HIVE FIVE.

How to join
Events are announced on our Instagram and to members directly. Most community sessions are open to anyone — you do not need to be a member to attend, and you do not need to arrive with a team.
